Courageous Malachi is a Leukemia Fighter – Acute Myeloid Leukemia, or AML. AML develops at high speeds. It starts in the myeloid cells, which are cells that defend the body against infections, parasites and prevent tissue damage.
At 18 months old, Malachi was diagnosed with AML, on August 19, 2016.
Due to a medical mistake when placing a central line on Malachi’s chest, he entered a coma and received his first chemotherapy treatment while fighting hard for his life.
Against the odds, Malachi became clear of cancer cells soon after, completed 4 rounds of chemotherapy and went into remission on his 2nd birthday, on January 2nd, 2017! Malachi is now 4 years old and cancer free!
Due to complications, Malachi spent well over 6 months at the hospital and now needs a G-tube (small opening on the abdomen into the stomach to get nutrition) to drink and eat. He also has anxiety from all of the harsh stuff he went through, which isn’t fair at all… Malachi LOVES cops and fireman!
Malachi, you are a champion! 💛💪
Prayers for Malachi are welcome! 💛
