Uriah

Sweet Uriah is a brave warrior. Uriah was diagnosed with High-Risk Neuroblastoma ( mycn amplified, which means the most aggressive type ) on December 27th, 2018, shy of completing 3 years of life.
Uriah has done 2 cycles of chemo. Uriah’s journey will be a long one – more chemotherapy to come, a stem cell harvest, more chemotherapy, surgery to remove the tumor, followed by higher doses of Chemotherapy and finally a stem cell transplant.
Uriah’s future is unsure – they are not sure whether treatment will work and if they will need to take Uriah for a clinical trial.
After the stem cell transplant, Uriah will undergo radiation therapy and 6 months of immunotherapy (different from chemo but as harsh). Because of cancer treatment, here’s what everlasting effects Uriah will experience: He’ll have hearing loss, increased risk of heart problems/failure and worst of all, he has a higher chance of developing other types of cancer due to one of the Chemotherapy drugs he’s on… He’ll be sterile or all least, it’ll be very hard for Uriah to have children in the future. He’ll also be shorter due to radiation…
Neuroblastoma has a 48% survival rate for the first 5 years. Uriah will be 3 years old on the 16th if this month!
We stand by you, Uriah! Fight fight fight! 💛
